This weekend we see Kell Brook defend his IBF World Welterweight title against his mandatory challenger in Kevin Bizier, an intriguing domestic dust up between Nick Blackwell and Chris Eubank Jr for the British Middleweight title and Andre Ward make his official debut at Light-Heavyweight. Most don’t see Bizier having a chance and you wouldn’t blame them, he’s lost twice to JoJo Dan who Brook beat in 4 almost a year to the day ago. But the fight between Blackwell and Eubank could be an absolute classic. This for me is the fight of the weekend! I’ll be watching Blackwell Eubank like and catching up with Brook on sky+.
We had our first win last time out when I stood in for our regular tipster Richard “Chadders” Hammel… who’s yet to give us a winning tip. So I make that 1-0 to me… Sorry Chadders! So you’ve got me (Chris) again giving you the tips for the week!
Brook has said that he wants to make a statement in the Bizier fight. He’s also said he wants one of the division’s top names after this fight. SkyBet have put a price boost on Brook to win in rounds 1-3 @ 4/1, so I’ve took advantage of that and stuck it in my treble.
The next part of my treble comes from the Blackwell Eubank fight. I’m a fan of both men and think they’d both beat any other domestic Middleweight (bar Billy Joe Saunders) with ease. I think Eubank will win and have taken into account two possible outcomes for this fight: Eubank to by decision/technical decision at 11/4 and Eubank to win in the second half of the fight (rounds 7-12) at 5/2. I’ve stuck them both in my two options for the treble at the bottom. If you’re a huge Blackwell fan, he’s 5/1 to win by any method, 7/1 for the K.O and a staggering 20/1 to win by decision/technical decision! Worth a punt if you feel the Trowbridge man will win!
The third fight in my treble is Andre Ward to win his official debut at Light-Heavyweight against Sullivan Barrera. Barrera has a good record of 17-0 but the only names on his record are Karo Murat who seems to lose against any top fighters and a faded Jeff Lacey. SkyBet was only offering the fight outright, which I’m secretly glad of as I couldn’t decide whether to put Ward down as a points win or win via stoppage. So it’s 1/8 for him to win with SkyBet
So my two trebles are as follows:
Brook to win in rounds 1-3
Eubank to win via Decision/Technical Decision
Andre Ward to win
A £5 bet will return £105.47 @ 20.09/1
Brook wins in rounds 1-3
Eubank Jr rounds 7-12
Andre Ward fight outright
A £5 bet will return £98.44 @ 18.69/1
